BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Britney Spears is the new face of Wal-Mart. The erstwhile singer recently inked a multimillion dollar contract with the retail giant, which will use her image to promote I'm Country, a new integrated line of casual fashions, cosmetics, and home accessories.
M. Susan Chambers, executive vice president of Wal-Mart's people division, announced the signing in a prepared statement yesterday.
"We are delighted to have Britney Spears become part of the Wal-Mart family," said Ms. Chambers. "We feel that Britney, more than any other celebrity, speaks to the soul of our customer base: the working mother who's maybe put on weight and let herself go, but who's still a sassy little number at heart."
Research conducted by the Retail Demographic Institute (RDI) supports Ms. Chambers' faith in Ms. Spears.
"The average Wal-Mart shopper is an under-educated, overweight mother, totally lacking in
sophistication, who is married to a man forty pounds her junior," said RDI's director of
consumer profiles, Daniel Moffatt.
"No other celebrity can bring all that to the table - and chew gum at the same time - the
way Britney Spears can. When Wal-Mart shoppers see Britney with
a wad of gum in her mouth on television, they know she's one of their own."
Financial details of the contract were not made available, but a source close to Ms. Spears
said that thanks to Wal-Mart's generosity, "Brit will not have to work another day in her
life, even if she wanted to."

A nude photo of pregnant US pop singer Britney Spears was given the green light Friday by a
subway censorship board after being rejected for being too "stimulating."
The advertisement for the October issue of Harper's Bazaar features a nude
and very pregnant Spears crossing her arms over her breasts was originally censored by
subway operator Tokyo Metro Co.
After a revision to the "stimulating" design that blacks out Spears from the waist down the
subway operator deemed the advertisement as fit for commuters as it shows the joy of
bearing a child.
"We decided to accept the photo as it is because it expresses maternal love and joy of
bearing a child," the Tokyo Metro spokesman said. "By revising the design, the initial
intention to convey the message is not served."

Google recently released a feature called
Google Trends, which displays a three-year track of how frequently various topics have
been searched for.
Plug in Britney Spears, for example, and through July, her declining searches offer
evidence of the singer's gradually fading star. Then along came August - not yet reflected
in the Google data.
On a simple graph, search volume is charted with various peaks highlighted - such as
around mid April 2005, as reported by
robotjohnny, "Everyone’s favourite white trash superstar done got herself knocked up!"
The data is pulled from searches made on Google around the world, but you can also specify
a region. Spears, it turns out, has been searched for more in Caracas, Venezuela, than
anywhere else.

Oops! Britney Pregnant, Again
BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhuanet)-- Britney Spears said on a TV show Tuesday that she is pregnant with her second baby
Spears, 24, and her husband, backup dancer-turned-rapper Kevin Federline, 28, were married in 2004 and have an 8-month-old son, Sean Preston. Federline also has two children, Kori and Kaleb, with his former girlfriend, Shar Jackson.
Child welfare officials and a sheriff's deputy reportedly visited Spears' home in April after her son accidentally tumbled from a high chair.
In February, authorities visited the home after photographs showed the singer in a car with her son in her lap, rather than in a car seat as required by law. Spears later apologized, saying she held the boy in her lap because of a "horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi."

searched" on Yahoo! Britney has appeared on the
Yahoo! Buzz Index for 1,116 straight days.
The britter, who has topped Yahoo's annual list for three of the last four years, lost out to American
Idol in 2004.
Following Britney were, the Cartoon
Network*, Mariah Carey (254 days on chart), Green Day (295), Jessica Simpson (295),

Pop princess Britney Spears is showing her support for Hurricane Katrina survivors by
auctioning off something that once gave her a lift - her jewel-encrusted bra.
Spears wore it in one of her steamy videos, and it's just one of many personal items she's
parting with in a virtual garage sale to raise money for storm victims.
"This is a great opportunity to get some cool [and rare] Britney items while contributing to
a very important cause!" says a posting on Spears' Web site.
Spears, 23, hails from Kentwood, La., which was battered by heavy rains but mostly
unharmed by Katrina. She rode out the storm in Malibu, Calif.
As of yesterday, Britney's bra (believed to be size 34-C) had attracted 171 bidders, who
pushed up the price to $17,500. Her two-piece sectional sofa was a distant second, attracting
54 bidders to the site (www.ebay.com/britneyspears) and generating $2,035 in bids.
Britney's jewelry - her hand-crafted cross necklace, the "Britney" choker collection, her
white and blue stone tiara - were attracting lots of bids.
So were Spears' many pairs of flip-flops and the Robert Cavalli sunglasses she wore to hide from the paparazzi.
A new mom, Spears is also unloading some of the vestiges of her wild single days - like two sets of wooden bar stools.
Lots of bidders want to get into Britney's pants, especially the Von Dutch jeans and the Abercrombie & Fitch stretch shorts.
But these are by no means the most intimate items that Spears was parting with. Her gauzy black Victoria's Secret panties generated 34 bids that raised the price to $270 before they were yanked off the site.
The auction, which opened Saturday, continues this week with all proceeds going to the Britney Spears Foundation to help hurricane victims.

Britney Spears to Pose Nude for Vanity Fair
BEIJING - Britney Spears is reportedly set to pose nude for Vanity Fair's cover in her
seventh month of pregnancy.
Life & Style magazine cited a source as saying that the negotiations are in motion and Britney Spears
desperately wants to do it.
Vanity Fair editors hope to do the shoot so the issue can hit newsstands before she gives birth in the autumn.

Oops... I'm on the Cover of Esquire
 Appearing on the cover of Esquire magazine wearing a short white
sweater and nothing else but her imagination, Spears recreates a famous 1966 photo shoot of film and TV
actress Angie Dickinson.
The photos are part of the magazine's 70 Years of Women We Love November issue, which also showcases
Cameron Diaz, Pamela Anderson, Catherine Zeta Jones, Sharon Stone and Madonna.
In an interview that accompanies the photographs, Spears explains why Esquire wanted her to appear on
the magazine's cover.
"Well, some people might say it's just to make money and sell magazines," said Spears. "But another
reason - a better reason, and the one I choose - is that they do it to inspire people."
Inside the magazine are other photos shot by James White, featuring even more revealing pictures of
Spears, who is outfitted in solely in a pair of panties and some carefully placed necklaces.
Elsewhere in the article, Spears claims to have resisted her record label's attempts to sexually
exploit her.
"Actually, the record label wanted me to do certain songs, and I was like, 'Look, if you want me
to be some kind of sex thing, that's not me,' " said Spears. "I will never do that. I'm still doing
